10'x6'x6' tropical pond

I was thinking of doing something similar to this but I was going to build a huge, well insulated plywood tank.

I was going to build a plywood box the size I wanted, then use 2x2-2x4 bracing around the outside then use cellotex and expanding foam to insulate it and use treated tung and groove to finish it off.

Then build a sloped roof and 2 large accesses panels above the glass for cleaning and maintenance and an insulated panel I could clip on in front off the glass for when it gets really cold.

Basically think a big well insulated shed with a glass panel lol

I worked out the insulation and it should stay as warm as keeping it in your house without your heating on, just what I was planning but trust me a pond will cost mega bucks to heat because the heat escapes strait out of the top

this sounds like an insane idea. I'll definitely think about this. thanks mate. did you end up doing it?

instead of a hybrid, I'm getting a SA RTC

how big pond/tank would you need for both SA RTC and RTCxTSN

I agree length over depth is always a better choice. Asking what you need isnt the right question i dont think, the question you should be asking is, how big can you go? go as big as you can, at some point youll wish you would have went bigger, I know I wish I would have went bigger. Also I would look into DIY trashcan filters, maybe even multi stage over flow style. depending where you are depends on your heat, if your pond is below the frost line which i think is 16inches the water should stay around 50, at least mine did, even when everything else had a sheet of ice over it, my pond was not frozen but you can also looking into a passive solar system, such as thermosiphoning like these:

due to the fact that my parents are moving house, there is a HUGE conservatory extention to the house. im gonna build a massive tank there instead of a pond. the tank should stay room temperature minimum and so extra heating will be at a minimum. honestly. if I can get a way with it, I was a tank with the dimensions, 10ftx8ftx6ft this tank will be home to a SA RTC, A big Fire eel and tinfoil barbs, like lemon barbs. Other stuff will be added later. what do you think?

The tank sounds awesome and dont want to burst your bubble but every other fish you have listed will be eaten by the time the RTC gets to 2'

ahh no, thats not bursting lol. id rather know then not. I thought that too, however my friend has all of them in the tank no problem.
What fish do you think will be ok with it?
Do you think I can get away with both a RTCxTSN and a SA RTC?
