11 year Old Piranha

When talking about personality of a particular fish, you do have to take into account that each animal has a different personality. My piranhas are relatively laid back, and won't chase feeders unless they're really hungry.

Good luck if you get him.

go on youtube there are some pretty old p's there, i think there is a 13year old red belly

if it was a pacu wouldnt it be freaking HUGE!?!?! honestly after 11 years how could you not tell if it was a piranha...it would either be like 16" or 3 foot!!

Agree 11 years = HUGE Pacu

My 8 yr old won't chase feeders with the light on. But if I put some in before I go to bed, you bet your ass they aren't their in the morning....he still doesn't like you getting TOO close to the tnk, but he is a cool fish.

ha ha if its a pacu he will be in for one BIG suprise on delivery day!

I raised a red belly from a 2 inch baby to about 10 inches over ten years. Had to sell it and the tank when I went to university. Made sure the guy I sold it to knew what he was doing.

I fed this one, right or wrong, on a mix of whitebait and either trout or cichlid pellets.

It would most certainly eat pellets and did from an early age. I know it was a piranha as I have the scar to prove it. Put my hand over the net when stripping the tank once. Didn't try that one again.

Do know the difference 'tween a piranha (30 odd species) and a pacu! :)

Will they eat pellets etc, thought I?!

Did it slow down? Yes, over time. It would just float about looking at me instead of swimming around so much. It was still pretty nervy when I had my hands in the tank - it would try to swim through the opposite wall...

I didn't use feeder fish as I could get away without. Sure freshwater fish would have been a better diet for it if disease free.

It didn't like lumps of raw meat etc, just ignored...

Best Regards

Soggy
