I've had this 110 gallon aquarium(60"x18"x24") in the garage for almost 1 year now, and i want to have a ancient tank. I already have 2 Delhezi Bichirs, and plan on adding more upper jaw bichirs that stay under 18". Filtration will have a turnover rate of approximately 10X

Here is what i'd like to have:

2-delhezi's
1-2 Teugelsi's
1-2 Palmas Buettikoferi
1-2 Palmas Palmas(Polli)
1-2 Mokelembembe
1- south American Lungfish
1- Top to middle range fish *please suggest

These fish all depend on, if i can even get them.

Advice/oppinions welcome

thanks!

I would skip the lungfish; it needs a larger aquarium than that.

i don't mean to be rude, but from your sticky "Lungfish Species Profiles", you said that Protopterus Aethiopicus(Marbled African Lungfish) can attain sizes of 36-48" in the home aquarium, and needs a minimum of a standard 100 gallon aquarium(72" x 18" x 17"). Then Protopterus Dolloi(Spotted African Lungfish) can attain sizes of 30"-42" in the home aquarium, and also needs a minimum of a standard 100 gallon aquarium(72" x 18" x 17"). But Lepidosiren Paradoxa(South American Lungfish) can attain sizes of 36"-48" in the home aquarium, but needs a minimum of a 180 gallon aquarium? All of these lungfish grow to be around the same size but SAL's need an extra 80 gallons of room? At the end of the day i want the best for my fish, but this just doesn't make sense to me..

Thanks

not sure if they qualify as ancient but if you forgo the lungfish you could get african butterfly fish. they're related to arowana so they do have some age behind them , though not as much as the lungs and polys

I did think about those, but seeing as they max out at 5", and polypterus Teugelsi max out at around 15", wouldn't that be an easy snack?

not really given that bichirs are not all mouth like alot of predatory fish. you could probably keep them with proportionally smaller fish. another thing is bichirs almost never leave the bottom while butterflies almost never leave the top of the water and camoflage very well with floating plants

The difference is in their activity levels. SALs are far more active than the African lungfishes; the African lungfishes tend to be pretty sedentary as adults (think of them as pet logs) while SALs will roam about their homes on a far more frequent basis.
