I'm going to change my substrate from medium rock to sand to give my tank a cleaner more natural look. With that being said my tank is cichlids so they will be diggers. I have 2 emperor filters with each tubes bottom about 8 inches from top of my rocks now. How much should I put in tank (inches)? Any other advice would be appreciated

Should I take my fish out while changing substrate out? Seems like it will get really cloudy until it settles

U can if u want wont hurt if u dnt. Ivd done it tons of times

So would one 50 Lb bag of sand be enough for 2 inches along bottom in my 110?

Go onto Google type in sand box calculator click the link there and you can say how long and deep your tank is and what height you want the sand to be and it will give you an idea how many pounds you need.

Do 2 bags

Thanks...Any advice on how to put it in? I will probably take a 1/3 section out of the rocks and replace with sand and move over in sections by just using a large 32 oz cup allowing the sand to get wet first instead of just pouring it in

Ok so I went and got two bags of pool filter sand...I was hoping the sand would be more white but oh well. I assume they dont make white pool filter sand just the normal looking sand
