110 gallon stocking

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
keep in mind dimensions everyone, 110's are usually 4ft long x 18" wide. and really tall if the op's tank is the same then the clown knife aren't a good fit at all

how are payaras legal in CA if piranhas are not??

well anyway if they are legal just know that they grow to arowana sizes in the wild and most don't live very long in tanks (what sucks even more is they could look fine one day and be dead the next). alot of people do keep them in tanks that size though. but its ur call, ur $$. good fun (while it lasts :()

are wolf fish illegal?
needlefish?
bichirs?

and since i kinda got a grasp of what ur lookin for, if u wanna go cichlids choose a Dovii. theyre known as "king of cichlids" and got pretty nice teeth and shred their prey. any other cichlid (as far as monster predator goes) would be a compromise.

but the only other "lesser" cichlids worth getting (predatory + teeth) would be:
Green terror
Jaguar
Jack Dempsey
Albino Compressicep hap (albinos look awesome with their red eyes).

all of these ones are smaller than the Dovii and miniatured in temperament as well (but still aggressive).

You shouldn't put arowanas in there, but you could have other surface dwellers like needlefish or african butterfly fish (theyre basically MUCH smaller versions of arowanas)

i cant find my tape measure but i know its 5 feet long and 2 feet high

im just not sure on the width

it has to be either 17'' or 18'' in width. anything else would be no where close to 110 gallons.

either way it just seems like too small a tank for a fish that exceeds 18"

if a dovii is too big then go for a Jaguar Cichlid

still got plenty of teeth and its the next best thing. out of the 3 "lesser" cichlids i posted, the jag is the most aggressive. (+ its general shape suggests it is a born hunter)

Jack Dempsey seems to be more aggressive toward prey but likes to chill around otherwise. green terror will be in your face all the time but its got a slightly smaller appetite for destruction than the Dempsey (but he will still eat ur average feeder).
