110g Discus Show Tank (6/20/13)

Very nice, but are you planning on putting in decor? (for the fish of course and to hide the tubes/heater)

I've always been a fan of immaculate, clean, bare bottom tanks with overkill on filtration. Although too plain and boring for most my goal is to give the occupants of any aquarium I do the healthiest environment possible. Decor along with substrate are magnets for trapping uneaten food and waste. I've always found it much easier to keep all the tanks levels consistent and healthy by doing this. With High grade Discus this is very important since they are so prone to disease when Ph or other dangers begin to fluctuate. Most of these Discus have spent their entire lives in these type's of tanks. I applaud those who try to replicate a natural environment for their fish but in reality they are still in a cage with walls. Imo the most important thing you can do for them is give them the healthiest aquarium possible. You will be rewarded with healthy, robust, and colorful fish by doing so.

I'd lay down some tile on the bottom to make their colors pop. Other than that, the setup looks awesome!

I've done tile before and it always looks nice until I switched to high intensity Led lighting. The shimmer effect is fantastic bouncing off the fish. Having a glass tank with a bare bottom makes the light bounce off the bottom increasing the shimmer effect even more. You will see it in the upcoming video's I'll share.

Thats going to be a even sweeter tank once the discus get in it, but 15-20 large discus in it may be to much IMO............

I layed out some white paper underneath my BB discus tank to let the light reflect from the bottom which to me seems to double the light in the tank. That way it lights up the whole tank from top to bottom............
