Bumping this thread because the stand and canopy is amazing.
Wish I had the kind of skills you do. Simply awesome...:D

Great job on this!

Man that is some high quality work. Very impressive

Really nice. I like the gas assisted canopy I think I might slap some of those on the canopy I build.

What exactly does the switch control?

I'd want a switch that could turn on my lights even when they're "off" thru the timer but I can't think of an easy way to do that.

Thanks, the switch controls the light mounted on the canopy frame that I use for doing maintinance when the canopy is open. To turn on your lights when the timer is off you would have to run two cords to your lights. One to the timer and one to the light switch.

You said you used 3/4" plywood, was 1 sheet enough for everything including top and bottom or did you use 2. I find one sheet is just enough for top and bottom with a little extra but not enough to skin the rest. Interesting idea using 3/4 for skin, that's extra thick.

I used about 1 1/2 sheets including the canopy. The reason I went with 3/4" for the skin was to use the 3/4" quarter round moulding for the corners and edges. I was trying to match the round corners on the tank.
