I agree. If you set your fluval up as bio and both your ac's as mech/polishing, and do regular water changes you'll be more than ok. Unless you want to spend extra money, I would let it alone.

The thing is my water is fine right now, but full grown JDs and pictus produce a lot of waste. I might as well figure out what I want now and look out for sales.

I need something to supplement my current filtration. It is currently lightly stocked with 2 juvenile JDs, a Firemouth, 2 pictus catfish and 5 Giant Danios. The current filtration I have on there are:

Fluval 403 (yea I know its old)
AC 110
AC 50
So, should I add a xp3, 2217 or some other cannister?

I would had another AC101........Get the AC50 on a breeder/feeder tank.......AC101's are great when it comes to mechanical filtration, plus they keep the current running strong..........I voted for the RENA Xp3........I have owned one or two in the past two years.......Then I wen to building myself DIY wet/dry filters.........Here is a hint for the RENA:Load it with cermaic rings on all three levels........

Doesn't the eheim have more room for bio than the xp3?
