You might want to look into replacing that Heating unit, if its the Marineland Stealth.
Based on the pictures, it seems like almost half of the total length of tank. Do you have to upgrade tank size?

I bought him from someone of craigslist for $50 and he didnt have barbels when i got him, the guy said it got bullied so he lost them but im hoping with some time in a peaceful tank they will grow back. My tank is 120 gallon ( will get a bigger tank when my lil buddy gets bigger ) and the heater is for 90 gallons. My LFS didn't have one for my size tank and that's the only one they had that was closest to 120 gallons so i bought it to test it out and it heats the tank pretty good. Tank stays at a steady temp of 78
