12 inch hoodlum suncat causing havoc with midas!-)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got one when it was about 2.5 inches he used to hide in the vegetation among the leaves of a large sword plant , then he has moved into a hollow log ornament and I rarely see him. Was feeding early one morning so i left the lighting on moonlight and the sucker came out and was beefy and almost 6 inches now. I hope as he grows he becomes more social and active. Ive thought of removing his cover and see how he does, but I wouldnt want to stress him out. Yours is looking good.

Nice vid and good looking tank.I recently purchased two three inchers and they are always toying around with each other.I wish I had gotten them sooner.

very underated, suncats are awesome... they have great character, kinda like a mini more confident ir shark once they come out.

Agree with Justin w.r.t. their personality.

To Krich: if you can try 6-12. You won't be sorry.

I've been thinking about getting one to two more maybe but I doubt I'll have as many as six as that would be a bit much in the scheme of things considering their size potential.I'm looking to put together a SE Asian biotope with the main focus being on my Datnioides.

I agree, I think I have 7 or 8, very personable, always active, interacting with each other, etc. I'd like to have a few more.

Yep. I think I can distinctly tell two kinds of interaction. They like staying together, i.e., schooling. But they too are in an apparent constant state of "fluid" pecking order reshuffling, challenging, and enforcing. Kind of can't live with or without you... all... The display fighting with side-to-side or shoulder-to-shoulder shoving and slamming can get serious but almost never does IME.

I doubt you are seeking it but statements like this won't help your popularity on this forum :)

You have good memory, Justin! Tell Rocky I didn't mean it. Not much. You know it is 10% what it says and 90% making light of things, right?

But it is not merely mentioned. Not at all. Mention all you want. It's the messed priorities that some of us carelessly parade :)

That's okay,I'm still a big catfish buff,I just haven't gotten the ones that I really want yet.I do have my pair of Megaladoras that are ten and twelve inches each.
