I am looking for a knife that maxes out around 10 to 12 inches. Can anyone recommend some. I already have a bgk and I am not too impressed. I am looking for something that is more active during the day time and that I do not have to get wet to feed.
Also what do you guys thing of the black african knife? Can they really reach 12 inches?
Thanks

I actually already have a bgk and really am not impressed with him. Trying to find something else.

Notopterus Notopterus have been known to grow to about 12"-14" but they can reach 24" in the wild.

African Brown Knives will grow to about 8"

Transparent Knives will get 12" and should be in a group.

the transparent knife seems like a good idea. When you say a group is three enough or we talking more?
Also do you have any experience with any of the three knives mentioned? What did you think of them?

A group of 6 would be the norm. And they like planted tanks. I have yet to find a N. Notopterus around here, but I hear they are the most aggressive out of the Chitala species. African Brown Knives are very chill, but they like to hide a bit.

did some research think you sold me on a school of transparent knives.
This is what I currently have in the tank:
Stock:
two blood parrots
1 Flowerhorn parrot
three rope fish
three young p. senegalus
mix of (3) giant dianos, 3 gold three inch tetras, 3 emerald rainbowfish
three clown loaches
pair bristle nose plecos
oh and a silver dollar
all in my 90g

Do you think I could fit three or four of the transparent knives comfortably? is that enough for a group?

Your tank seems pretty full as it is, but I'm the type of guy who believes that as long as you have sufficient filtration and the fish don't get too large, it should be fine. So you can, provided that you have sufficient filtration and enough hiding spots for the guys.;)
