i just got ride of my rtc  :barf: so i fill ed my tank with all the guppy's and ghost shrimp from my 10 gallon and things are missing the only fish i have in my big tank are a 12 common pleco and a 5+ gold fish all my shrimp are gone and most of my baby guppy's who's eating them?

Most likely the pleco but if the goldfish are large enough they would eat them as well.

Actually plecos don't bother shrimp very much. The gold fish will eat anything that fits in their mouths, and are the likely culprit.

thankx i'll get rid of the gold fish then

I would not put it past a common pleco to go after shrimp.

I use to have ghost shrimp. Tell they jumped out of the tank avoiding my LMB lol.

A lot of times, big goldfish will 'try' to eat small fish, and end up spitting them out dead... then your plecs take over from there.

I've never had a problem with the combination. With my many plecos, and shrimps over the years. Even large carnivorous commons don't bother shrimp very much.

Yeah but I assume you feed your plecos? I know with many underfed plecos they wil resport eating other things, like fish slime coat. And that brings up a good question. Tfaceon, have you been feeding your pleco?

Actually, even well fed plecos occasionally will become hunters. I've had a few go this way, and they will take down anything that swim basically. I still don't really have any problems with shrimp and even these extreme plecos.
