12 Volt Man's Aqueon 150 Gallon Startup Thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you're still in the market for a sev, you should go see Mike at Finatics.. he had some sweet ones in there last time I was there.. I'm growing out 6 Rotkeils in my 180 to hopefully get a nice pair or even one huge male (still not sure if I want a pair or not) They're all around 3-4 inches now and look AMAZING! I love em :D

Just read the whole thread and I think your tank looks really classy and I like it a lot. Congrats.

thanks!

full tank shots, after re-addition of clown loaches and ugly pink tube

that will be removed once the clowns settle in and are deemed non-nippy with my fish

thanks! actually, these steel stands are made from 1 1/2 inch steel tubes..

the LFS says they actually handle the weight much better than any of the prefab stands from All-glass...which are pine strips but held together with glue and staples...no nails, no wood screws....

my old 90 and 65 sat on a similar tube stand like this: and it wasn't 1.5 inch steel, it was 1 inch..

The reason they dont do "nails, or woodscrews" in those setups is because it would make no further increase to the weight line stability of the tank, it's not staples that hold them togther on my tank lol. Maybe its a yank word but staples in scotland are for paper lol. Little wood pegs is what they are, and are sufficient in tanks i've had set up for 10+years (100 UK GAL) which is about 130US.

Nice tank though, admire it.

well, pretty close to what it is now, other than a severum or a geophagus..

the lemons are going to get huge, so that will take up most of the tank space. it looks pretty empty right now, but they are growing fast..
I like the tank... its "different" for a big tank. Not the usual fish you see.

hell, I have never seen a lemon barb ever except for you tank lol

I think part of why my tank is a bit difrerent than most is that the choice of fish prevents me from having plants and driftwood or rocks.

plants get eaten.

driftwood and rocks get smashed into and I end up with injured fish- especially as they get bigger.

hell, the other day one of the little lemons got spooked and scraped himself..and the tank is basically empty of conventional decor!
