Hello all. ordered an Aqueon 150 gallon (72x18x29) tank specially made with black silicone last week. this thread will be my progress in setting up the tank.
the tank takes a few weeks to come in since it is special order, but I have a lot of the stuff now.
all the LFS's near me sell steel tubular stands that I have been using for years and I decided to stay with this type. the 1.5 inch steel is strong enough to park a car on and inexpensive. and they last and last and last.
every few years or so, I touch up the inevitable surface rust but thats about it. 40 years from now, it will still be going strong. the tank, well, probably not LOL
the LFS's actually recommend these stands for really big tanks, since in their words "they handle the weight the best". I appreciate the honesty. because the prefab wood/laminate/particle board stands they sell are way more expensive..
you can put two tanks on these stands, but I doubt I will ever end up putting a tank underneath.
