I'm probably going to get a 120 gal tank in a year or two so I'm in no hurry. I have a few questions:) would this be safe\look ok if I had it in a second floor bedroom and if you had no limit on money how would you stock it. Thanks:)

the biggest you would want to go on a second floor is around 55gallon. some people say 75 or 90 but I want to be really safe.
And the filter & air pump/powerhead would probably annoy you when you're sleeping, even if it's in the cabinet.

as to stocking, in a 125 you won't be able to house extremely expensive fish.

People cannot tell you the real structural integrity of your particular floor.

That said, your safest bet will be to put the tank parallel to the joists and on a load baring wall.

my 300 was on the 3rd floor for 11yrs until i moved it reacently (rented a crane)but it was fine

Wow! 300 gal. on the 3rd floor? Just curious...How did you move it outta the the 3rd floor... or into another floor with a crane?? how does that work?

There would likely be no problems with have a 120g on the second floor. I currently have a 120g on a wood framed first floor above a basement. I also have a 150g and 180g on the same floor.

As for stocking, there are so many different possiblities, what type setup are you looking at? Single monster, planted, aggressive community, native, etc. Also what dimensions are you likely to go with 4' x 2' x 2' or 60" x 18" x 26".
