I don't think there's any ray you can keep in a tank that size..
same goes for gars..They grow fast as well..
Bichirs are good in a 120..I like Delhezi..
for knifefish Clowns get too big and aggressive..a black ghost will work well with Bichirs..

for other oddballs you'll be able to keep a Small Datnoid for sometime..They grow slow..but eventually outgrow your tank..or a Bay snook ,but I'm not sure about the growth rate of these..

you'll need one or 2 upper/middle dwellers to make the tank look full..Nothing comes to my mind other than cichlids..

Gars in a 4x2' you could keep 1 or 2 for a few years. The 2' width is nice. I haven't done muck collecting in lake Ontario but I'm sure you could get some interesting fish. I usually just go to the lake with a minnow trap and a dip net and see what I get. I've caught juvenile pike and musky in minnow traps along with the odd Cisco, whitefish, and hearing in dip nets. You just never know what you will pull up

Get a Senegal and/or delhizi bichir for a bottom dweller. Silver dollars (x3 or 4) for your active mid swimmers. A raphel catfish for cleaning crew. All will be fine for life in your tank.

If you want more agro fish, get a 3 or 4 convicts instead of silver dollars - get a male and a couple females if you wanna feed your polys live fry...
