So you did the 7 fish so the only super aggressive fish was the Midas right

Sorry it took so long to respond, I was away from the computer over the weekend. Yes the Midas is the only aggressive fish in the mix. Part of the success I think is that I started them all together small. The Midas is now 6" and the Red Hooks are 4.5 to 5" plenty big and fast enough. And they know when to get out of the Midas way. The pleco is also around 5".

I had contemplated a more aggressive mix with a Texas, a convict, and other smaller cichlids with the Midas (still the king) but I just did not want all the torn up fins and fighting. After all its only 120g and not that big for a bunch of territorial fish.

As the fish get bigger I will see how the Midas interacts. If he get overly aggressive with the others I will rethink my set up and probably go with a solo fish. Not what I want but the Midas is the most interactive, so he stays.

I am looking to stock my 120 gallon and i am looking for ideas....

The only things i dont want to do is
Piranhas
Tropical(like guppies platys etc)
and solitary fish

Everything else is free game
!

Try DISCUS.....Leave the bedding bare or with sand.....Fill the tank with Val plants and Amazon....120, well start with a juvenile group of about a dozen 2-4 inchers....Within a year, there will be a breeding group.....As for predatory but not piranha, try 5 dozen Exodons......Leave the tank bare and have one large centerpeice driftwood or Mother Amzon Plant as a centerpeoce.....
