120 jag tank

The couple would kill a pleco haha, but that lp190 pleco is nice i would like one but cant, I did a 75% water change scrubbed the rocks and glass and siphoned a bunch a poop from the bottom. My light is just a normal t-8 florescent that i do leave on all day and night because my jag for some reason freaks out when i turn off the light i think its because of a fight he got into with a 12 inch long 8 inch tall big ass buttikoferi that he lost one of his eyes to. very sad but hes back into shape after alot of recovery and got him a mate so he can settle down from being a street fighter to being a faasha.

Having the lights on 24/7 is probably the source of your algae problems, even if they are standard aquarium lights. I honestly believe that fish need a resting period in which all the lights are out in the tank too. I have seen plenty of stressed and jittery fish in tanks that run continual lighting. This is just my thought though.

Get a timer for your lights not natural for the fish to get 24 hour lighting. Algae needs light to grow and having your lights on 22/7 cant help.

There's your answer, 24hr lighting is a bad idea for all the reasons stated above.

I have a breeding pair of jags in a 150...the only other fish with them is a small blue eyed pleco. If you give the pleco some shelter you'll never see him during the day but every morning you will see a lot less algae. Another thing you can do with Jags is buy some floating plants like duck weed. The jags will appreciate the overhead cover which makes fish feel secure and it will cut light and compete with algae for nutrients. You still need to do weekly water changes, light algae scrubbing, and don't overfeed....that's part of owning a tank. I hope this is helpful.
