I am looking to set up a new clown loach tank and I am torn between a 120 gallon (48"x24"x24") and a 125 gallon (72"x18"x22")

The 120 would fit where I want it and be more aesthetically pleasing.

The 125 would be a little long, but would fit.

If my math is right there is a 144 sq inch difference for a footprint. Just worried that a 4ft tank isn't going to be enough for the clowns. The little ones are currently living in a 4ft 75 gallon tank.

Any help very appreciated =D

I'd go with the 125. More volume and a better footprint, especially for bottom dwellers like CL's. A 120 would be plenty, but why not....right?

I had a 125 awhile back. no room for a six foot tank where I'm at now so I went with the 120. they are both nice but for scaping the 120 with the extra 6" of width is awesome. either one will fit your needs.

well 125G would be nicer but 120G is enough for clown loaches..

I think you answered your own question. You really want this tank because it would fit just right!

Just to throw a another thing in there; You could also consider a 120g that is 60X18x26. They are harder to find but may work better than a 6 ft for you.

I have a 5ft 120 and it's great! Either one would be fine but I would go 4ft 120 for the extra width out of the 2 options you listed.

My clowns seem to prefer my 125 over my 90 gallon (same footprint as a 120 minus a few inches of width). I think if you're setting it up for clown loaches you should go for a 6' length.
