120 or 125 gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My vote (having never owned a clown loach ;) ) would be the 125-Not over that 5 gallons. Besides the true gallons of a 120 if this tank if topped off= ~110 gallons

You provided measurements in inches:
Width: 48" (121.92cm)
Height: 22" (55.88cm)
Depth: 24" (60.96cm)
Your tank's volume is approximately 25,344.0 cubic inches or 109.7 U.S. gallons, which is approximately 426.8 liters.

And a 125=123.4

You provided measurements in inches:
Width: 72" (182.88cm)
Height: 22" (55.88cm)
Depth: 18" (45.72cm)
Your tank's volume is approximately 28,512.0 cubic inches or 123.4 U.S. gallons, which is approximately 480.1 liters.

But the extra footprint is great for bottom dwellers...They need footprint.

Kind of what I was thinking, they will be sharing space with some african tetras that max at 4" so the extra height won't be missed.

Thanks for the advice =D 125 it is. Now if anyone has any info on what kind of Tile to try for a bottom. (in another tank) otherwise will have to continue searching or start a new thread if unsucessful lol

Kolossus Has a 18" 120 he's got FS in WI.. You may wanna talk to him see if he's still got it. If it had been the 24" 4' I'de have jumped on it... ;)

I had actually traded my 125 for my 120 that i have now. and yes its loaches all the way!

Thanks!! The sand is pool filter sand that I got at a pool/hot tub dealer. I dont know about the ph of the slate but i believe its called black slate, i got it from a buddy who says that any good landscape shop will carry it or be able to get ahold of it.

Also would a Fluval E 300 watt heater be enough, or would I be better off with two 200 watts?

I would go with 2 200W submersible heaters. the Fluvals are not submersible and glass, not my style i guess. good luck tho be sure to post pics when you start your clown collection:headbang2
