120" tank question

I had considered africans, but can you imagine how heavy it would be with all the rock that i would use. It would also be an awesome river tank. I had considered making it a dedicated barb tank, but larger fish are just more entertaining.

And i never claimed to build tanks for a living, i do it as a source of supplemental income since working for a glass whole-saler lets me attain the materials very inexpensively. Im sure plenty of people know way more about arrowanas than me, i was just making it clear that im not a total idiot.

Dont settle for $1 per gallon. You can do better than that. Id ask $450 for just the tank, and thats only if its a standard tank. If its drilled with overflows, $600 wouldnt be unreasonable. This is for glass in good condition. I build glass tanks for a living, so i know what they cost to build and the trouble these big tanks can be. Good luck.

The width of the tank is not suitable for "monters" that you say are more entertaining. Honestly w/ that width the tank is worthless IMO especially w/ one of the largest aro's, the silver. So what if a fish can swim a longer distance, if he has problems turning, quality of life is still low. They'd be more comfortable in a standard 125 gallon longer than in your custom dimension tank. I'd say, pony up the cash for thicker glass and a wider build or change up your stock options. Just because a 18" Aro can fit in a 12" wide tank, don't make it right.

Much better. It has a higher safety factor and more room for your fish. It's also 168 gallons vs 135. The non braced safety factor is 2.2.
