I was wondering what most people prefer. The 4' x 2' or 5' x 18". I'm sure it depends on the type of fish you get, but does it really make that big of a difference? Which size is more common? If people could tell me which version of a 120 they have, along with the inahbitants, that'd greatly help me out in deciding which one to get. And ofcourse, pictures would be great

We have a 5 foot 120, not yet set up, and 2 4' 150's. The 4' 120 is the same shape just not as tall. I think the square looks better, but as far as stocking goes the 5' would hold more fish IMO due to the extra length.

i have a 4'x2' 150g. (just a little taller) and i would always pick the wider. imo it allows the fish more area to swim especially if your stocking larger fish since it will allow them to turn easier. my stock list is in my sig.

I like the 5" 120s. But that isn't to knock the 4'ers, they look good too. I like the length on them.

How tall are the 5' 120s?

26" high. I believe Perfecto is the only campany that makes it. I *had* one but sold it a while back when I got out of the hobby for a while. I liked it a lot, it had a nice look, the proportions were nicely balanced. The 4x2 ft 120,s just look like deeper 75 gallon tanks to me.

Here's mine with a breeding pair of Red Tiger Motaguense.

I've got the 4x2 version.. it makes a good all around tank. I've used it for oddballs in the past but currently it's working as a Dovii growout tank. It will eventually be a permanent home for my Wolf Fish once he gets to a little over a foot long.

If I was doing common everyday fish like cichlids or something that did not get bigger than say 12''-15'' then the 5'er would be the one to get. But for most oddballs and monsters the 4'er would be better having the extra width of 24''. I never understood having a tank that was 5-8' long and having it be 18'' wide. If that is all you need then why not save some money and get a 75 or 2.
