Just a few quick questions... I was wondering what kind of skimmer would you guys use on this tank? it is going to be fish only, probally wont even have liverock in it... Also i am looking for a sand filter, any suggestions on this? I plan on putting 3 HQI MH 250w light fixtures on this... do think this is overkill or just right? ANy suggestions that you give im thankful for!

Thanks in advance,
Justin

With this kind of depth, have you considered a plenum sand bed? You should pick your fish before you decide what type of environment to make (live rock or not, bright lighting or deep water dim.

This isnt the "for sure" list, but heres the fish I believe i might go with :

1 poweder blue tang or sailfin tang havnt made up my mind yet
3 to 5 blue tangs
3 yellow tangs
1 coris wrasse
1 flame hawk
1 blue face angel
1 koren angel1 sleeper goby.
maybe a few Moorish Idol to school, maybe also a few anthias.
I will have to look into plenum sand beds, what makes the good? I really dont know too much about sand filters.

as for the lighting the halides would be overkill.. but there's really no other way to get that shimmery look tot he sandbed.. especially in a 3 foot tall tank..

maybe like 1 400W and then standard floro..

as for your stocking.. it sounds.. ok.. but the sleeper goby and hawk will just get LOST in such a large tank. and as for the goby i'd have a small herd of them wandering about the tank, stirring the sand bed..

I would skip the moorish idols too. And why no live rock?

^i would also skip the idols^

cost.. algea problems.. hitchikers.. just doesn't like the way it looks..
