1200 Gallon EPDM Pond Liner/Viewing Glass build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Wow. It looks like an amazing build. I currently have 2 330gal IBCs plumbed together and partially buried in the side of a hill in my yard. One side is stocked with my tilapia, and the other side is empty, save for a pleco and feeder rosies. Anyway, I was watching them cruising around the tank, and I realized how much cooler it would be to have a viewing window instead of getting glimpses through the water current.

Also, when I moved 2yrs ago and my dogs had a half-acre instead of 1000sqft, I realized my heeler, who loves to run, was never able to actually reach top speed in our old yard. The change in her personality was immediate (and lasting). Sorry, getting to the point. So one of my tilapia is easily 12", and is barely 6mos. old. The rest are 5mos. old, and are all right around 10", and as active as they are, and as quickly as they have grown, I was thinking they already could use something larger.

Combine these two together, and I'm already building my first mega tank. Glad I found your build, it gives me hope that I could do it myself, although my wife probably wont approve for a long while.

The point is to document the process and share with fellow hobbyists so they can enjoy it as well.

Waterdog products uses Dow 795 black. I have spoke to the president of the company and he told me this. He said it's the best sealer out there. Also said that no. It doesn't suggest submersed usage. Said they out that in the bottle to avoid any kind of lawsuits ext. said it's all they use. Because of this. I am going to be using Dow 795
