I was thinking that. Almost like a hybrid system running both. However I’m getting confused trying to figure out how I would plumb the sump with the ultima..can I piggy back the pump ? Overflow to sump, sump to pump, pump to ultima and ultima back to tank?

And yes I plan on having extra bulk headS so I can plumb my water source directly in. I’m also probably going to have a tankless water heater inline so I never get any temperature changes. It’s a bit complicated lol that’s why I need you guys

with rays and etc youll have heavy bio load so i would use a sump with k1 for bio and a ultima for mech along with a r/o drip.
id also plumb for a drain and return from w/e water source your usin for easy wc.

i would use a separate drain but thts jus me ive been out of the hobby for some time now so forgot most of the know hows but theres a lot of info on here tht can help u
