120G Stock Question?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I love my GT and he will come greet me when I walk by the tank. The Female Jack Dempsey in the tank with him pushes him around some but he is starting to get bigger then the Jack. He is not very aggressive. He also tries to do a breeding dance to the Jack but the Jack wants nothing to do with him. It is funny to watch. Never had a Datnoid before but I love my Green Terror! Plus if you stick your hand in the tank he will rub up against it like he wants to be petted. I lucked out with this guy. Hope that helps a little.

That did help, reminds me of my oscar my favorite fish. So with that being said, should I give it a go, I think I have the room sense the tank is heaviley filtered and my water change schedule is good, do you think he will fit in, the advantage is they are all still real small. So final list is 120g with 1 dempsey, 1 Convict, 1 Firemouth, 1 Green Terror, and 3 Clown loaches, all these fish are males! So you guys think that I should do a GT over the Dat? All feedback is good, thanks guys

Gt is the best choice IMO. It will fit in with you SA cichlid theme. Also, they are extremely personable - well all of mine have been. I havent kept dats so i cant comment. But a friend of mine has, and although are really cool and great to look at... So is a male GT!

So I will go with the Gt, do you guys recommend getting two or three to grow them out and make sure I get a male I really don't want a female? Or is there a way to sex a very small GT thanks

Get a few (3 or 4) of them and you should guarantee a handsome male. The males are usually larger, lighter in colour, have a thicker band of orange in the dorsal and tail fins, some develop a hump early on, and generally they have a more elongated body.
