Self consolidating would be handy for any tank project. Would save a lot of guess work and labor making sure the form was filled, with no air gaps. Also 8,000psi sounds much better than the normal 3,000psi. With concrete around $100 a yard, I wander how much it would add to the cost. I was also wondering if fiber mesh reinforcement would be usable for this kind of application.

They used macro fiber reinforcement at Georgia Aquarium:

In addition, STRUX 90/40 synthetic macro fiber reinforcement was used for secondary reinforcement in slab-on-ground concrete throughout the structure, including concrete walkways, areas near the tanks and other high traffic locations. STRUX is safer to use, reduces the potential for damage to waterproofing materials placed under the concrete and eliminates the risk for corrosion compared to other types of reinforcement.

Sounds great pete! Can't wait to see it get underway. This going to take away from the home project?

Nah, bunch of political hoops we have to jump through that can't even start to happen until we see who wins an election at the end of March. If two people we want to win do, lots of hurdles to getting it up and running will be eliminated.

Just to clarify a few things. Between the two of us we have about 94 years of fishkeeping experience. (He's 22 years my senior and we both starting keeping fish around 8 years old. You do the math. :D)

My friend collected the sharks that were kept in the tanks at his night club and restaurant himself in the Gulf of Mexico off the Louisiana coast. I have experience with nurse sharks whereas he has experience with nurse, sand tiger, and a few others. Neither of us are new to saltwater and he's definitely not new to big aquariums. The videos of the tanks above and the 2600 and 2200 gallon tanks in his home right now are evidence of that.

There are some things that could be done better though, particularly in relation to the concrete tank construction which is why I've posted here.

bubbles123, ty ty ty!!!! that's exactly what I was looking for!!!
