just to shed a little light on the situation... not saying I'm an expert on id'ing dats... but from what I understand... the datnoid in question would be considered a Contriversial datnoid (CT dat) still classified as a wide bar dat... reason it being contiversial is because of the tail markings and body markings... tail markings of and indo, body markings of a pulcher... if you ask me it don't matter which one it is, that's a sweet looking dat...

does the tank have an over flow or did you make a DIY overflow for the canister filter?

Here's an INDO....
you need to turn this one around so we can see if it is an indo or not :) because i for one think that that is a datnoid...

it is the first time i've heard of controversial datnoid. anyway. if you can't tell what datnoid you have, then...idk :lol2:

How about any of these?

This is a good picture, see how it sorta looks like there is a possible 4/5 stripe and then the 6th stripe on the end where the tail is? If your widebar looks like that on the other side that u didnt take a picture, then for sure its a widebar. Ive had quite a few widebars and mine have always looked like these three. Although, i did have one that looked like the one u posted, but on the other side it had 6 stripes. You can ask some of the other dat experts on here and see what they think (such as those who have more than 5 in their tank =P)

Bro, no need to PM about what specie it is. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Just post in public. So please explain a little bit more about the 5th bar being attached to the body ? is the diagram attached in correct?

I'm fascinated about your statement. Please advise because I would love to learn more with someone who has more expertise with Datnoids.. thanks

This is what I have learned from my years of owning Pulchers. There are possible Indos that are controversially widebar or Pulcher lookalikes. This one above, if you look at the #5 and #6 stripe, they usually combine or stick together to make 1 stripe, being the #5 stripe and the last one being the #6. Just cuz a datnoid has "wide bars" does not make it a pulcher widebar. Cuz indos can have skinny AND wide bars.

This guy looks like an indo but may be a pulcher that doesnt have the stripes attached. If the opposite side looks just like it. But if the other side has that 5th stripe that looks like 2 put together, then its a pulcher.

This picture is the perfect example. EVERY dat in this picture is a widebar. All have 6 bars. altho one looks like it has 7, but the 5th and 6th bar are touching, so its most likely a pulcher.

I hope this helps R1_Rider, I really didnt want this Buy and Sell post to become a Dat identification post. I believe u sold widebars in the past if i can remember like 2-3 years ago right? Check the other side of your guy, he may be a pulcher, just the side that u took a pic of makes him look like an indo. I could be wrong, but i havent seen the other side of the widebar u are selling. Maybe its a widebar that just doesnt look like a widebar? Again, hope this helps ur curiosity. We can ask other dat specialists like rkc772, xcuter, ThisISTong, or icthyophile

Heres a great chart! i guess yours would most likely go in the Controversial Dat category.

Here are some of mine to give more examples of pulchers altho the pics arent perfect:

i dont know what you guys are talking about, it is so easy to tell if it is a widebar or an indo. check out the last stripe, if it bleeds into the tail...voila, its a pulcher. I learned that from the dat master himself, Mr Alfon76.

Everyone has their own theory of the number of stripes. But the most reliable form of identification of datnoids is not the stripes but their unique body shape and proper stripe identification.

Mods might want to move this and change the topic to how to identify a dat for sale...something like that :)

And remember, be civil. None of that childish name calling crap. If you do, I'ma ban you with my big stick!!!

oh yeah, it is only controversial because they don't know how to ID the datnoid. If they did, they would know. The two examples shown of "controversial dats" is as follows. The one on the right is a pulcher, and the one on left is a microlepsis...very simple.
