tank looks great.
I tried to add some tank mates to my shoal, bad idea...keep the pix and vids coming.~!

Lol there have been some casualties along the way... what I've figured out is the best cohab for my shoal are fast Defensive fish I tried a 5" oscar. He tried to bully one and they bit his entire mouth off. I also tried to rescue an old pleco from a Nasty 5 gallon tank and he must have smelled bad or something cause they ate him. But the 9 exos are goin 2 months strong. The pleco I have in there they don't acknowledge at all and the cat just keeps his distance. So I'm happy and consider it successful lol

I've seen several people do 2-4 months. I wanna see long term success of anything but a pleco. Keep up your honest updates

Looks cool but cleaning is going to be a burden with that stock. Crap is going to sink into gravel, under every rock and wood etc. Nitrate readings would be interesting plus you have to worry about decaying fish/waste hidden creating spikes in parameters, cleaning pygo tanks weekly is a bit of stress (on you and the fish) but with weekly 50% wc you can probably get by with bi monthly tank cleaning/vacing.

Its tricky because adult rbp dont need to be fed every day, their older, less active thus a slower metabolism, so the other species of fish will need more food atm making your feeding schedule tricky. Add a decent 1200-1500gph circulator for added exercise + it will help blow all the crap towards the filter intakes if setup properly, thus lowering your cleaning intervals. Hydor makes some awesome ones and free shipping @ http://www.petmountain.com/product/...-hydor-koralia-circulation-and-wave-pump.html (go with the 1500gph model)

Naturalness & practically are often times hard to balance when it comes to this awesome species of fish! Some go with bare tanks for ease and added space, some go all out.

As for the non compatible tank mates most everyone here knows my take on that, it will eventually be a meal and the longer the the pleco and pictus survive the more attached you will grow and the worse the death will be.

Focus on a good diet like white fish fillets (talapia/whitefish/smelt/etc) raw shrimps also make a good monthly treat and the all mighty pellets will increase colors and sometimes health and immunity boosts. I prefer frozen fish fillet at your local supermarket, quick to thaw out and easy to feed and imo it satisfies their craving for flesh, 1x per week I feed a fillet of talapia and 2x per week a handful of NLS jumbo fish formula floating pellets. Seems to be a great combo as overfeeding is the second major cause of death in aquarium kept fish. Hungry fish is a healthy fish

Thanks bud I do run two powerheads in my tank I do a 50% water change every week. I clean gravel once a month and I always watch for food chunks. As for feeding the exos get krill every other day and the rBps alternate between shrimp and tilapia every two days. My water stays clear all my fish are happy and healthy (great color and active temperament) I've done a lot of research since I first got them and feel that I'm doing a decent job. As far as tankmates...I think my exos will probably be the only ones to last. They've been in for 2 months. They got the pictus last night. I do appreciate your input though and you have a beautiful tank! I would love to get more for the shoal but unfortunately I moved to a place where they are not allowed and I have no connection to get them so I'm stuck with my three and probably just my exodons. :)
