If i were you I'd plan to have the old 55 inside the 125 if it can be.... I'm in the process of building a sump for my 125 with a 55 laying around. That's what I'm doing and it will be a w/d sump with maybe a diy overflow but probably not.

also driftwood tends to lower your ph and I don't know if you want that or not so you might want to reconsider... I'd have to say the sand looks very appeasing and I want to try it because my small grains i got is only a small layer and I'm thinking of the pool sand if the deal is worth it.

also driftwood tends to lower your ph and I don't know if you want that or not so you might want to reconsider... A lowered pH would be fine with me as our water comes out at about 8.2.
