125 gallon aquarium stand build thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As promised, here's some pics I took tonight. The sump is very nearly done, still waiting on zenzzo to send me some scrubbies to fill it. Tonight I installed a quietone6000 in it to go with the 4000 that was already in there. I get some serious flow through that sump now =)
Also, the decorations in the tank look awkward because I haven't yet decided how I want them to look. I do love that piece of driftwood where it's at though.
Since the tank is still not fully cycled, it is the home to 11 zebra danios for now. They're living like kings.

And, of course, everyone loves a night shot

Thanks for the compliments everyone.
The total materials cost for the stand was between 100 and 150 dollars. Very cheap for such an indestructible stand in my opinion. Definitely no regrets on building it. Also, it's not clear in those pictures, but I painted the inside a nice tan color too =)

nice stand. im in the process of building a very similar stand for a 125g. but i wont be using a center brace because i plan on putting another 125 underneath. has anyone built a stand similar to mines?

on the front and back 72" stretch i have angle irons for added support. btw, im suing 2x6s and for the post 4x4, notched style.

give me your input guys on any added support since i wont have a center vertical brace in the middle.

thanks!
