I am just about to get my a 125 gallon aquarium. right now I have a 75 gallon aquarium with a Jack Dempsey female
,3 female convicts, a blue acara and a green terror. My Oscar is in a 65 gallon by himself. My question is whether or not I could keep my young Oscar with them in the 125 gallon. he is approximately 3" long the next biggest fish in the tank would be my jack dempsey who is 4" long and then the rest of the fish are under 3"

My advice would be Oscar, green terror, blue acara go into the 125. 3 convicts and jack Dempsey in 75. The fish in the 75 are central American, a little more aggressive and usually like harder water. The 125 would be all south American fish who are more tolerant of communities and like softer water.

Okay. I use to well water I have it's a slightly harder water but is filtered. I would love for all of them to go in a tank together if I could get away with it.

All them in a 125 is going to be overstocked in my opinion. You could try it, they probably won't kill each other, but you'd have to do 2 large water changes a week at least to keep the water clean once they are all large. No guarantees that they don't fight either, some potentially aggressive and large fish in there. All females of the CA cichlids might help you get away with it.

Okay my plan is to put everyone In the 125 for a month or so then once I get the 75 set up again I will probably put my oscar In there. For his forever home. Do you think all of the fish minus the oscar would live fine in the 125 for their life? I am a bit of a DIY kinda guy as I've been making my own canister filters and sumps. I dont have a vision for a possible 300+ gallon tank in a year or so. I got a buddy who owns a glass company and I can get glass dirt cheap. Any size or thickness I need too

The oscar should be fine in the 75 for life and all the fish would be fine in their for a month or two, and once the oscar goes all the fish will be fine in there and you could probably have some more

Yea I just am not trying to set up two tanks in a week haha. I also want some time to build a new sump for the 75 as mine is going on the 125 right now. Home made trickle tower in a 20 gallon tank with a 800gph pond pump with two aqua clear 110s should be sufficient for my 125 I think.

Give it a try. You apparently have other tanks to split things up if it doesn't work out. Putting them in a new tank none will have established territories. I'd see what happens and go from there.
