125 gallon cichlid tank aggression!

How did you cycle your tank? Can you add fish?

At minimum I would trade in the tret and the red zebras for 6 cobalts.

If the test results for ammonia and nitrite are OK you could then add 6 yellow labs.

The pictured fish doesn't look like a Demansoni to me. Demansonis have a bluish hue & more stripes.
Its likely you bought the Tanganyikan Cichlid as described by the vendor.

thank you guys so much! I think I will return the red zenbras and the unkown one. my tank is cycled and everything is good so i will add the 6 yellow labs and cobalts. Is there any other cichlids i can get with the fish i have in the tank? Also hoe many more johannis should i get?

The problem is the bacteria adjust to the amount of fish you have in the tank. So right now, unless you just cycled with ammonia, your bacterial can support 7 fish. Swapping the 2 zebras and the one tret (3 fish) for 6 cobalts is an increase of 3 fish, but it is safe.

The cobalts are your most aggressive fish with 2 already in the tank, and you need 8 of them to manage aggression among them.

See if you get any ammonia or nitrite in 3 weeks, and then consider adding 6 yellow labs. Wait another month and add 14 maingano (not johannii...cyaneorhabdos).

Since you already have those 3 one assumes they are your favorites. A month after you add the maingano, maybe a blue barred fish like Cynotilapia zebroides Jalo Reef.

I agree, certainly not a demasoni. The shape of the head is different, as well as the coloration. If you don't want too much aggression then I would avoid demasoni. They are a dwarf cichlid, but in my experience will happily pick fights with much bigger fish. They are particularly prone to attacking fish with similar colours.
