Hello fellow MFK members I need some help!

Just picked up a 125 gallon and got everything with it. The filters supplied to me by the people who sold me the set up are kind of crappy! I wanted to replace these before any fish go in it. I want to keep 3 decent size predator fish in this tank but I still havent decided what yet. any suggestions would be great! it is going to be a barebottom tank if that matters for fish selection.

What type of filtration is good for this type of set up? and affordable?

I was thinking 2 Marineland emperor 400 HOB power filters? They are on sale at my LFS for $45 each so 2 for $90 is more then affordable. Will these 2 keep up with the fish I want to keep? or would you suggest a canister filter? But please remember I dont want to spend to much money. If I had it my way I would have 2 Fluval FX5's :grinno: but that isnt happening!

ANY HELP YOU COULD GIVE ME WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

1 FX5 then :grinno:

For a HOB filter I would get the AquaClear 110 power filter. IF you are going to get a canister the Eheim line. I would get an eheim 2250,2260 or 2262.

I am setting up a 125 soon and it's coming with an AC 110, and a fluval 405. I am going to add another HOB filter that will push an additional 400gph.

What kind of filters did it come with? IMO, there is no such thing as a crappy filter if you have a little imagination :)

Depends on your stock list but I don't think 2 Hobs will cut it on a 125. I have a fluval 405 and 2 Rena xp4s on mine, but then I'm overstocked. :)
