125 gallon filtration

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i'd go with (2) canister filters. either rena xp3's, eheim 2075's or if you want to drop some major cash and go overkill 2 ehiem 2080 or 2180's with the internal heater, but you will have enough filtration for upto a 640 gallon tank
you can never have too much filtration, unless your fish are getting either sucked into the intake tube or either being blow into the glass lol

I have made a decision. Best bang for my buck would be.
2 Marineland HOB emperor 400"s
1 Eheim 2217 Canister

Anything wrong with either of those?

Thanks for all the quick replys! VERY HELPFUL! The 2 emperor 400"s wont be permament those will be replaces by another canister eventually. I just want to get this tank up and running so bad with reasonable filtration. Hope I made a good decision.

In all honesty, I don't skim when buying HOB's. They can be prone to being VERY noisy. Throw in the extra money and get either 1 or 2 AquaClear 110's. You will be much much happier in the long run. Read some reviews about both and you will definitely see why I am making the suggestion.

1 AC110 and a fx5 keeps my 125 tile bottom tank 100% clean and never have to do anything but WC and wipe down the glass.

Well put.
yep! lol kinda embarrassing, but sometimes it takes me a month to decide on which filters to buy for my set ups. gotta go through all the different catalogs for specs and price comparison and then to the Internet to read up on all the mixed reviews each filter gets before i commit to buying them :nilly:

how does everybody memorize the filter models?!

We all spend entirely too much time researching and talking about fish. ;)

My choice would be an FX5, a koralia evo powerhead, and something like a HOT mag 250 for water polishing. That's my setup when my 125 is up and running again.
