125 gallon heater size?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The 300w and 150w together should work for your 125g.

300w heater should be fine for a 75g.

Always best to have more than one heater.
Heaters commonly fail in both the on and off position.
If they are too strong, in the "on" position they can cook fish, and hopefully the other heater will cycle off.
If they fail in the "off", the other can pick up the slack.
In tanks of that gallon size, I would often use 3 under sized heaters.
I had a 300 watt inline heater fail in the "on" position, it started to melt the PVC.
After that incident, one of the first things I did every morning was to touch plumbing on other inline heaters in use.

My solo 300w Eheim Jager performs well in a 120 g. long & a 200w EJ heater is in my 65 gal. I live in Oklahoma where the climate is usually warm nine months out of the year.
I've never used an inline heater. Maybe hanging the heater inside an aquarium makes a difference.

I think it would be fine. Eheim Jagers are good quality heaters w/ good thermostats.
Mine have been up & running six years.
