-Hey guys I just bought a 125gallon setup that came w/ the stand, canopy, 4 HOT Mag filters, 3 Bio-wheel pros, 4 air pumps, 4 heaters, undergravel filter, and much more.....all for only $125.
-So far I have sold the filters and air pumps and purchased 2 mag 350s.
-The only thing I have found wrong with the aquarium itself is there is a good sized chip in the edge of the glass on the back right panel so I'm not sure if this will potentially ruin my whole dream of setting this tank up or if I can fix it in some way.
-I will be using this thread to track my progress of refurbishing this entire setup. Here's the order of what I will be doing.
1-refinish the stand--sanding, filling, installing new handles, fresh coat of paint.
2-refinishing the canopy that has a warped lid...I don't own a saw so I might wait on fixing the lid but I will be sanding, and painting the canopy.
3-cleaning up the aquarium and hopefully fixing the chip.
4-possibly replacing the current lighting in the canopy with actual aquarium lighting instead of undercabinet lighting.
5-Then the only thing left is to buy pool filter sand, powerheads, decorations, and then fill it up.
6-Add my school of 11 Tropheus Dubosoi once the water is well established.

Any advice on fixing the chip in the glass and the best way to install aquarium lighting in a canopy would be greatly appreciated.

Here's the stand and aquairum w/ canopy....

the location of the chip if you are lookin at the picture above is on that front left edge where the front side meets the left side. The chip is on the edge of the front pane of glass. here's a few pictures...

I'm not sure if I would worry about it. I've seen worse. But I have a basement with no carpet. LOL

same here, just area rugs here and there, should I atleast put some silicone on it to reassure myself that it won't leak?:D

The silicone isn't going to do anything, so I would waste the money. But you have forgotten one thing.... you need to bring MY good deal tank over to me. I need to put it on MY stand. :D

I already have the silicone, I may apply a little on there. Haha no way man! I just refinished the stand and it looks great, now I need to find some good lighting for this canopy that isn't too expensive. Shop lights are all 48" so thats out of the question...I just can't find any 36" lights that are mountable anywhere!!!

would it be unwise or awkward looking if I had two 48" shoplights in the canopy. Not side by side obviously but one in the front off to the right and the other in the back off to the left...i have one 48" shop light and I'm trying to figure out a way to use it.

Ive seen way worse chips not leak. In fact I have one. Dont worry about it. Your options are vast with lighting because you can hide it in the canopy :)
