125 gallon home built stands?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice lumber stands everyone.

Hmmmm why are the greens shorter? I always just cut them flush with the top and cap with plywood...seems like more support for the top that way

I do too. The only thing I can think of is that if you didn't have the plywood top, and the top horizontals shrank a tad, then it would be possible for the tops of the four corner green verticals to stand slightly proud, and maybe put unnecessary pressure on the bottom corners of your tank.

But with a sheet of ply on top, even if this did happen, I think you'd still be pretty safe.

I'm not positive where Jexnell Jexnell stand pic came from but when I built my stand for a 125G tank, I used the plans from DIY Stands Template and Calculator with great results.

The green 2x material is just a screw strip to make assembly easier and keep the stand square.

My stand can be pictured in post #7 Here since I can't access the photobucket pics any longer.

TwoTankAmin,
Very nice looking stand and Aquarium!
Any chance you could add a close up pic of how the canisters are stored underneath? (still trying to figure this all out)
Also, what is the overall height of the stand, 32" ?
Thank You for your help!

ADawson23,
That looks very solid, can’t wait to see a pic when it is all set up.
Nicely Done!
