I hope you have not filled it up yet. I have noticed that the tank is lying directly on the stand which does not look to have a full flat top surface. It's commonly recommended to put a 1/2" or 1" sheet of insulation foam between the tank and the stand, especially on larger tanks such as yours. as the weight of the water adds, the stand may bend and may put uneven stress on the tank, causing it to crack. A simple elegant precaution to a nightmare.

^ completely NOT true for a glass tank. ^ 100% true for acrylic tanks. His tank is obviously glass from the first pic.

I also mentioned it was glass in the first post, when I said how effin heavy that mother was to move! :naughty:

Seriously, the guy who helped me move it still gives me hell about it.

from washington here i have about the same size tank with an fx5 also. although the fx5 does have good flow rate since the tank is so long you might want to use your other filter also divide the tank to have the fx5 on one side and your rena on the other depending on how good the rena is.
My tank has a 7 inch really messy turtle in it though but i have a fx5 a cascade 1500 and 2 emperor 400s on the top half of the tank. i only paid for the fx5 though.

UPDATE:

OK, today two things happened, my FX5 arrived in the mail, and I got sand for the tank.

Here it is, the FX5 is in the bottom right corner. Once again, taken with an iphone, so sorry for the quality. I didn't realize the FX5 doesnt come with any media :irked: so I need to pick that up tomorrow before I hook it up.

The sand I decided on is a blasting sand that JK47 recommended (thanks dude!). The picture of the bag is on page 2 of this thread. I am stoked on it, gave it a quick rinse in a rubbermaid bin and dumped it in.

Here are some pics of the sand:

Here it is during filling, it is nice and heavy with little dust...

It's actually rated to 400 gallons. :naughty:
I haven't set it up yet, but I hear good things.
JK47, who also posted on this thread, has them on all his tanks, and obviously likes them very much, as do a lot of other people.
They seem to be the best bang for your buck, by far.
I'm an aquaclear man in the HOB department.
I got it for a hair over $200 on ebay with shipping.

There are many other people more knowledgeable on the specifics of filter ratings and such, but when in doubt...

GO MONSTER! :headbang2

My only concern is water circulation in a 6 foot long tank. I may either use two filters and split the tank in two, or use some gnarly powerheads. As long as the water is circulating the FX5 should be able to handle the load no problem, although some people like to add a HOB like an aquaclear 110 because it makes it easy to dose with carbon and such, and in case something happens to the canister, your cycle doesn't crash.

hmm sounds good, but i have a marineland c-530 it does 530 gph, do you think its good ?

I have 2 turtles and 9 fish ; 6 tiger barbs 1 barb clown loach with 2 plecos

Should I get an fx5 o.o overkill? i think not turtles are dirty mine are RES.

and also I can put in a under water filter that does 50 gallons of water tanks.. and maybe a H.o.b that does 60 gallons

but hten again I can always buy a rubbermaid and make a ghetto sump

aint got much room since my big c-530 takes up space, I have a commercial stand not like u guys having so much room I have shelves
