125 gallon tank bowing question.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ya, a new stand and canopy are in the plans, I hate the look of pine. I think when I build the canopy, I'll add a glass brace to the tank, as wall as have the canopy fit around the top of the tank and I'll have a brace run across it as well. That way if the the tank brace would give, the canopy should stay in tact as it will be built from hardwood.

Just curious, does you bow when filled? But that is reassuring to hear.

I admittedly cross posted this on multiple threads to get this exposed to as many experienced fish keepers as possible. I did end up coming to the conclusion that it is fine, but may add a center brace just for that extra safety factor.

Thanks,

Scott

Truthfully I never noticed the tank bowing, but I never have really looked that close either. I bought the tank from a friend that had the tank running for a few years, so when I got it home I just filled it up. I'll have to take a look next time I have the tank empty. Adding a brace sure couldn't hurt...especially if you'll sleep better at night.
