125 gallon tank flip...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
At first glance, I questioned the y-piece. Once I went back and looked at the pictures more closely, I like it. I think I might have to borrow your design. Have you tested it for power outages?

Thanx. As for the power outages I will be testing a little more this evening. But from what I saw the over flow worked well and kept the water level at the right spot. once the pump was turned off it ran and then stopped at a decent level.

Hi Guys!!!:D Time for an update on the work on the 125.
I noticed that some pictures I posted disappeared??? oops I guess I can't organize my pics while I am running a thread.:irked:
So I will pick up with my over flow pics and then to the stand.

How about testing the tank re-seal, over flows, pumps, and stand all at the same time.

The project goes on... Tank has a leak but re-re-seal will start tomorrow. Only noticed one leak but this gives me time to finish the stand and re-seal the 30 long for the sump not to mention build the sump. Hope you enjoy what I have posted and there will be more soon.

Update...
My dumba$$ broke the 30 long I was going to make into a sump and the 125 still leaks. So my progress has slowed down a little bit but still can say there is progress.
I took the 30 completely apart and will be replacing the broken piece with panes I had leftover from an old 55. I will have to do a couple changes but that should put me back on a productive path with the sump.
As for the 125 I will be stripping and re-re-sealing tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully this will be the last time and I can get a little more focused on the stand.
As for the sump I have some drawings that I will up load at a later date.

Stay tuned.

UPDATE...

Something you can't see in the pics are the side panes are actually off a 55 gallon I had. I will need to get a glass cutter and trim them down. I will be using one of the pieces cut off to fix the broken edge on the larger viewing pane.

I think your leaking reseal may be due to the type of silicone you used. Or rather, might be fixed by using a different kind of silicone. Are you using GE1, perhaps?

I am using GE1. This is my first re-seal so I was not surprised. I am still ahead of schedule. The second run with the silicone looked much better too.
My first go I used a beveled edge to go over the silicone but part two I used my finger and I could actually feel air pockets and felt a lot better about the application. We will find out in another 36 hours give or take.
