125 Poly House

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Coming up to a year since my last update, so here goes.

I've started getting more serious into the hobby lately. I've got a 6'x3'x2' fiberglass tank on order, slated for delivery in December. I've purchased 7 juvenile WC retros/beuttikoferi, not sure of the exact species. I'll get some photographs of them when they're out of their grow out to try and do my best to ID them, and get the help of those more knowledgeable than me.

My stock in the 125g is the same as my last update, but everyone is bigger. I'll attach some photos below. I'm also attaching a picture of the 125g from when it was initially set up. I want to point out that from that picture, to the picture of it today, I haven't bought any plants. Everything has just grown in. (Exception for the tiny Amazon sword, and there are some crypts/val that came from another tank. All of the fern/anubias is just growth, though.)

Oh, I totally forgot about the tub. I picked up a 150g stock tub to hold an ornate someone dropped off at a fish store near me. Once I get the fiberglass tank, the ornate and both weeksii will be moving into it. So the 125g will have 1 polleni, 5 ropefish, 1 senegal, 1 delhezi, and 2 retro/beut/whatever they are. The 7 juveniles I bought will also be going into the 125g, and I'll evaluate space at that time. I'd eventually like to do a ropefish species tank, so that'll probably be the first move.

My goal is to attempt some breeding, so I am trying to get to a point where the habitats are species specific. I have quite a few years before these juveniles are breeding age though, so I'm not rushed. The fiberglass tank could be housing breeding attempts of laps as soon as next year, depending on what I can get my hands on size wise. It's extremely difficult to get large bichirs here, especially WC ones.
