I like your PVC maze idea... I have thought about something similar in the past. I'm real interested to see how it turns out though.

Well I bought some supplies to make the maze for them, plus it's black. I'll still spray paint but still. 
I'm thinking of cutting them into like 3-4 inches pieces since the bichirs will be small, and stacking them so they swim through and the drain thing will have bigger holes in it after I'm done with it. So they can swim through it also, should keep the bichirs happy.

I cut up the PVC pieces. I think their 5 inches each, 16 total pieces. i'll have to file them down, so their not sharp.

Huh, never crossed my mind. That was another reason I didn't want the gars, I'm sure they would eat a 3 inch senegal. I feed them earthworms alot, since they hardly eat anything else. If I can get ahold of some larger senegals I might actually keep the gar. We'll see, but that never even crossed my mind, lol.
