I recently moved to a house that has perfect Tanganyikan water pouring out the tap, so I did away with my South Americans and have set the tank up with what rocks I have and a couple pieces of driftwood for what plecos I have that can do with that hard water, and some vals and anubias for greenery. Right now the tank is so plain I can barely look at it. I set it up for Tangs because I love their behaviors, and dealing with LFS customers all day, I can barely stand Malawians ("I want a yellow one and an orange one, I already have a blue one...").
Currently I have 8 N. brevis and scads of shells for them all,
6 N. caudopunctatus,
1 black A. calvus,
3 N. brichardi "Kiku fire tip"
And that's all so far. All white/gray fish in a tank with white sand and rocks. I need some color in there for sure. I'm planning on buying at least a trio of leleupi, and 8-10 Paracyprichromis nigripinnis, and some E. cyanostictus when I get a nice growth of algae in there. I feel like I've got to be missing something awesome with my limited knowledge. How I'd love to have frontosas, but I truly enjoy my small species and don't want them to be eaten. Thropheus are beautiful but I don't want to deal with the aggression/dietary challenge (unless I've been misunderstanding their husbandry requirements). Any other cool things I could add?
