hi there..!
i will add more calvus and personaly i like the brichardi complex fish..but i will take'em out..sooner or later they will take all the tank for themeselves.
there are a lot of species you can have in that kind of space
you can add
ophthalmotilapia or Cyathopharnyx
there are always the recomended synodontis cat fish
tetrocephalus
julidochromis or chalinochromis
cyprichromis for the open water (i will avoid paracys cause the will ocuppay more in the rock than in the open water)

if you want more color in your tang tank keep the white sand, choose a diffrent color rocks and then add the greens.. :D
tang fish aren't as flashy as malawis so you should try to contrast everything as possible in your tank not only the fish

well hope i have help.. but in the end it's up to you
remember that in a tang tank if you set it up right..each species will mind of it's own bussines..just give a proper space for each species

I have a 100 gal with 10 Comps, 4 Leleupi (plus 20 fry), 5 Occies, 14 Syno. Multipunctatus, 2 Bristle nose cats, 4 Julies, 14 Paracyps. Lovely setup!

I have a 125g with 8 F1 Kigs,5 wc ventralis "orange cap', pair of Wc tricotis who stay up never on the bottom unless for food,2 F1 yellow calvus,1 leleupi.....ok community no fighting but overall nice setup so far. I would have gotten Cyp's but i couldnt pass up on the tricotis but the cyp's would have been really nice!

Well, I went fish shopping and I am so pleased with what I have so far.

So far in that tank this is what I have:
8 N. brevis
6 N. caudopunctatus
1 A. calvus
3 N. leleupi
1 N. cylindricus
1 N. sexfasciatus
1 J. transcriptus
1 E. cyanostictus
1 N. brichardi Kiku "firetip"
6 Cyprichromis leptisoma

The cyanostictus is really cool but I'm worried about not coming through for him in the dietary department, but I will try (I'm probably being more paranoid than neccesary). I only bought him because he was the last one left and I got good deal because he had gotten beaten up (loose scales, spilt fins and the like), and the girl said she'd rather he go to my tank and heal rather than some other yahoo. I'm very excited for the Cyprichromis to start coloring out.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'm going to wait for the next batch of compressiceps. There was one left, but honestly he did not look good. I'm hoping to get one of the "Lufubu" variety. We'll see.

I also bought 40 lbs. of Texas holey rock and will be getting more when the next shipment of good stuff comes in. The last shipment was terrible. All giant flat pieces with hardly any holes. After putting everything together, it looks great. I rounded it out with some vals and anubias. Hopefully the goby cichlid doesn't mow it down.

I also got rid of three of my fancy plecos. I kept my L200 because he's really doing great (and getting fat and big!). So I've bent the biotope rules quite a bit with him, and I might get a few Chinese algae eaters later.

This tank is such fun! I've never done Tangs before and so far I'm not disappointed.

great to hear, pics... stay away from the chinese algae eaters, they will get big and will eat small fish when they grow large, such as the small ones you have...

Noted. I bet my L200 will do a fine job by himself. As for the pic, all I have is one I took on my cell phone of the whole layout and it's pretty crappy, blurry and cloudy since I had just rearranged the tank.

Looking at that, I cannot wait to get some more rocks. LOL It looks so bare and pathetic, but as long as they're not killing each other it will do for now.

i don't think its look pathetic..remember that simplicity its the best way to go..you can add more rock and make it better but this actual set up it's really nice..:D
