125 wetdry/plumming help?

on an icecube.....
iam setting up my 125 truvu tank with a biult in 1 1/2" side overflow but i dont know anything about plumming ect:confused, is the PVC glue at the hard ware store safe for tank use?(the brand is oatley and is says poison on the bottel)it's for grow out with large fish what would be a good size wetdry?iam planning on pot scrubbies for bio media and a layer of quilting batten on the drip tray to get the big stuff, i have a 12" wide by 24"H space under the stand what would be a good way to utilize it? if anyone has anyother tips it would vary helpfull, and iam sure il have more questions as i continue:)
 
get Sally's red hot glue if you can.. thats fish safe AFTER it cures.. so you prime the pvc on both ends and then apply a small amount of glue on both ends and twist as you push the 2 pieces together. i say you get a rubber maid tub that fits your stand and use that... and you can just find 2 other tubs/containers that will fit about half of the tub..

Oatley is fine when it cures (they just don't want you drinking it) it's made for potable water.

Problem with the size tho...sump should be about 1/3 the size of the tank, unless your only keeping one fish.

WeeNee858's drawing is ok , just add a baffle to regulate water level in the sump. Bio-material (scrubbies) should be 1/3 submerged and held off the bottom an inch or so. And only use a valve on the return to shut system off for sump cleaning, not for regulating flow.

And make sure you have anti-siphon holes in the over-flow.

there are some pics there of how I plumbed it in, hopefully this helps.
The wet dry is made up of 3 rubbermaid bins, two being the same size.
Its just like weene858's drawing, but here is a pic of the real thing.
 
thanks guys, iam still not sure how iam going to make the wetdry yet sence iam going have a lot of large waste produceing fish in the tank, would splitting off the line from the overflow to the wetdry then haveing two seprate places for bio media(have them side by side in a long sump kind of thing)be a good idea to utilize my limited hight or a waste of time? and dos anyone have an idea on what size return pump i would need?
 
What's the total room you have available...12w x 24h x ?= depth or length?

If this is all your going to have to work with, make the pre-filter area as large as possible and the bio-material will follow, keep turnover rate up (6x-10x) to filter out detrious and limit your bio-load, bring it up slowly and keep checking the tank chemistry to make sure the filter can handle the ammonia. Health of the fish come first.

well i took apart the stand so i have more width and i got a large bin(30"LX14"WX13"H)for a sump, iam thinking of useing an old plastic sterlite three drawer oraganizer for the wetdry, take out the bottom drawer leaving the top two and the bottom frame ware the third drawer was to elevate it up off the bottom of the sump, cut out the bottom of the top drawer and fill both with pot scrubbers then cut off the bottom of the third drwer leaving a 1"-2" lip around the bottom and place that in the top of the first drawer, cut holes in it for my drip trey, then put some holes in the bottom of the second drawer for the water exit into the sump, but the water would be going down about 15" from the top of the first drawer to the bottom of the second would the bio media stay wet enough? about what size of holes should i drill for the drip trey?(1/8" by1/2" apart?)would a quietone 3000 or a mag 950 be a good return pump? i was going to put the heaters in the sump but is it ok or will they melt the sump? and would i still need a baffel in the sump?

The baffle regulates the water level to keep 1/3 of the bio-material under water.

Top media in 'dry' area will be wet enough.

Drip tray...How is water delivered to it? Overflow directly to the center of it? 1/8"holes in center 5", then 3/16 out farther to even the drip rate.

Quiet one 4000 matches the Mag drive 92 (950) closer @5ft of head either will give about 5x-6x turnover. Mag drive is a little more in cost.
