name a few good hang on backs for a 125, im thinking 2 hang on backs or a canister and one hang on back. I used to do just canisters, maybe Im just tired of them. Im just going to have a handfull of big silver dollars and 3 or so fire mouths, something like that.

are they noisy? Also I read good reviews for the FX5, I guess I would just need one, I will look up the aqua clears.

Aquarclear or Emperor 400's for the back (a combo of each will be nice) and if you want a canister also to go along with them, an FX5 will work for that also. The combo of hang and canister is a nice combo for those that don't like to do wet/dry's.

i originally assumed you were going with a fx5 and wanted 2 hobs also. yes a fx5 would do alone but lots of people double up regardless.

don't have an ac myself but i'd consider the emperor 400 noisey

I have just two AC110's filtering my 125G for over a year; water is crystal clear. Fish are healthy (Frontosa spawned).
I have a canister (XP3) and a AC110 on my 75G. Got tired of canister maintenance, so I went with two AC110s on the next tank (125G).

No need for more filtration unless you like spending money. AC110's are easier to clean than a canister. I have an extra sponge that I rotate between filter cleanings.

for how cheap the 110s are I can try them and change later if they are too loud for me, thanks for the info. what would you put in it for start up tank time?

Now Im juggling this conversation between 2 threads lol, sorry.
