Emperor is a little louder because of the bio-wheels on them, but have good bacteria in the filter because of the wheels. The aquaclear is very quiet in my opinion, either will work for you.

I got 1 ac 110 so far, just filled the tank, no fish. I could have got the filter online cheaper but at least it wouldnt be a hassle this way if I hated it to return it. So now I will either buy one more or one more something else. So far this is very quiet, the motor sound is more what I was worried about, but I dont hear it much. So far so good. If I just added a ac70 would that be too weak for a 125, ah probably, maybe I should just do another one of these.
by the way I appreciate everyone's help, I used to be the guy everyone called for fish stuff, now Ive been out of the game for a few years. But thanks to everyone.

Currently running AC110s on 2 on my 125 but I also have Ehiem canisters working with them. I dont consider the AC110s to be noisy myself unless they just get completely gunked up but at that point you are not doing any time of maintenance on them
Ok, does the ac110 motor normally sound just a little rattly, not much, but I just want to make sure mine isnt defected. So now that Ive got the ac 110 on this 125 gal, do I need another 110, or would a smaller eheim canister be good with it, maybe just an ac70. Im mostly concerned with the sound of the ac110, wonder if 2 of them might be a rattly ruckus. Let me know what yours sounds like if you could. I see some smaller eheim canisters on amazon for like 89 bucks.

these are rated for 60 - 110,,,,,,,its obvious they push a lot of water. I know Im getting another filter I just dont know if I want another one of these. I researched a lot and find a lot of people get this noise yet a lot of others say only a humming sound. Whatever.
