Hello everyone! Thought I'd start a thread partly as a way to document the growth and development of a tank from the start.

I've had a 55G peaceful low-tech planted community tank for a little while now full of nano fish like furcata rainbows, CPDs, rummynose, etc... The largest things in there were the 6x Denison barbs which are still rather small at around 3-4 inches each. Lately I've been enthralled with the South American cichlids and have decided to move in a different direction. All of the nanofish are going into my 30G. I'll leave behind my Denison barbs, and use the 55G as a growout tank for my planned SA peaceful Severum / Geo tank.

My planned stock list...
6x Denison barbs
6x Satanoperca leucocista
4x Red Tiger Severum
2x Rotkeil Severum
1x Royal Pleco
1x Snowball LDA033 Pleco
1x Irriri Golden Nugget L177 Pleco

Aside from the Denison barbs, everything else is going to starting from babies! Getting 1-2 inch little ones from multiple sources (aquabid, Rapps, Wet Spot, LFS). Once these get to about 3-4 inches, I'll move them to my 125G. And once they get to 6-7 inches they'll go into a 240G eventually. It'll be a long process but I'm excited to start from scratch. Will plan to post many pictures along the way.

Thanks for reading!

Will try to introduce each inhabitant in a separate post. First one though will be the BABY royal. I can definitely see an uninformed individual buying this cute little fella for a 20 gallon tank thinking it'll stay small... not expecting it'll grow to 16+ inches! Super cute though when so small.

Third picture shows the little guy clinging to my finger not willing to be let loose into his new home yet haha.

As long as you understand the risks. It looks like you've put a good amount of thought into this and as a severum fanboy I wish you the best of luck.

Thank you greatly! The advice of those with more experience such as yourself are what I always look forward to!

Got in my 4x Red Tiger Severum sp Curare today from Wet Spot. Going into the QT for a month with expectations of ich based on prior reports. Wish me luck!

A couple more of the little ones... better lighting, but not the best focus. Will let the guys recuperate from their trip without hassling them more. Will grab some more photos after their QT period is over. Pattern of stripes on these guys is correct! Can't wait to see how these turn out. Hoping they all survive.

Roaming around in the QT and all 4 are greedily gobbling up NLS small fish pellets already! One month of Seachem Paraguard and high temps (raising it to 84 tonight) planned for a precautionary ich treatment cycle.

Also got in the Rotkeils today and will upload some pictures of those little guys in the next couple of days. They're almost identical in size to the Red Tigers so hopefully they'll all mix well together :)
