125g 3D BACKGROUND

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They have many backgrounds that are 72-79" in length... I'm installing the stump background from designs by nature in my 125 gallon tank currently. VERY high quality.

The biggest expense is the longer backgrounds UPS and FedEx rates go through the roof for anything over 4'. If you have support bars up top your going to have to cut it anyways, best thing is have them cut it for you down to 48" or less then its cheap to ship! They weigh next to nothing its just the length that gets you.

Made my 180 gallon background out of the pink styrofoam from home depot. Carved it up and added a cut stump to the middle. I painted the background and then coated it with 4 layers of west system epoxy, adding sand on the last layer to dull the shine. The background and stump were siliconed to the tank and a diy bracket was made to support the stump.

Great Stuff - "pond foam" (green can) it is made for aquatic use and is PH inert. I use it to install my 3D backgrounds and it works great. Easy to carve to any shape.

No offense at all, buut why people spend time adding concrete and sealing it/soaking it is beyond me. If something messes with water chemistry (even for a short period of time) I would not want to use it all. Think of long term leaching in small amounts. (you can't test for the tannins staining the water brown for example, but it's there)

The reason cement raises pH is because it leeches calcium into the water. In small doses, this doesn't harm fish. It's actually really good for some fish. African cichlids thrive in it. Here in PA some of our best bass fishing is in old strip mine ponds, which are extremely basic and hard from calcium leeching out of the limestone walls. It's not man-made chemicals leeching into your water, or necessarily even bad.

Do you put driftwood in your aquariums? Driftwood makes water softer because of those tannins.

us just c ment an coral sand i did an it did notin to the ph any day o an epoxy will melt some types of foam so i would test it be for you use it
